Even with my cochlear implants, I rely heavily on seeing your face to really understand and fully grasp our conversation. Visual cues and lip-reading are essential! If you turn away, it's like hitting mute button on our chat for me. If you're hearing, how would you feel if I took my devices off and didn't watch your lips? That's why I love eye contact and feel respected when you turn your face and body in my direction (when all possible) while conversing.
