So true julietstarrett and thereadystate! It’s weird to see sugary sports drinks still trolling after all these years. 👀 Those jugs of candy water are straight diabetes!

KIDS DON’T NEED TO DRINK GATORADE (and arguably shouldn’t). Plus, it’s bad for the environment since it only comes in single use plastic.
In their 2011 clinical report, the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) says that water is “the appropriate first choice for hydration before, during, and after most exercise regimens”. According to the report, “For most children and adolescents, daily electrolyte requirements are met sufficiently by a healthy balanced diet; therefore, sports drinks offer little to no advantage over plain water.”
Plus, let’s be honest, the amount activity most kids do for sport doesn’t justify a drink laden with that much sugar, plus a bunch of weird additives and dyes.
