I never want her to look back and feel she missed out on things because she didn’t have a mom. Although I’m not a female nor will I ever be her mom, I try to learn everything I can about the experience so that I can help her through whatever she may face. I started with doing her hair. I first learned how to care for it properly so that it’s healthy and it grows. I then started doing simple hairstyles and found out I’m really good at it. This also became our special time where we talk about things one on one. Before you know it, I learned how to French braid, cornrows, designs, buns, Bantu knots, curls, ponytails, edges, etc. I am so proud because I never had experience with kids until I had my own and I figured it out.
