The Umayyad Mosque is one of the largest and oldest mosques in the world. It's also one of the most unique as it's been a site of worship ever since the Iron age. It began life as an Aramean temple, then became a shine to the Roman God of Jupiter before transitioning into a cathedral up until the Muslim conquest of Damascus in 634. Today, even though it's the 4th holiest site in Islam, you can still note its resemblance to a church.
