Type 2 tutus—tomfoolery and tough too—together, times two.
I’ve worn a tutu twice in 2024 and both times were a hootenanny of a good time. First up, easy_dog and drewtookapicture told me that there was a legendary nordic race in Crested Butte—the Alley Loop—the weekend before we’d be there anyhow. The distance? A marathon. Screw it, why not. Second, the Leadville Loppet, seemed like a dose of everything I love about Leadville and the Leadville community. So frankeltaylorchef and I went for it with a half marathon.
Not so long ago, I never would have allowed myself to explore a (basically) new-to-me sport in the middle of ski season. And I certainly never would have raced, mostly due to insecurity. But this has been so darn fun to skate ski for the first time since I was 10 years old. And it’s been the best cross-training I’ve ever done for building towards running season.
