Today is my treatment day. I often forget that it's a big deal. New people are shocked when I speak of it, but I honestly forget that I have a life threatening condition.
It's been 9 weeks since my last treatment due to pharmacy and insurance issues, which means I have gone 3 times as long as normal between IGg infusions to treat my hypogammaglobulinemia. The part of my immune system that stores how to fight off many infections is broken. Without these treatments, my Primary Immunodeficiency (PI) causes me to be highly susceptible to infections. My disorder is not contagious (like HIV, the virus that causes Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome (AIDS) ) however the end results can be frighteningly similar.
