Yesterday was the 5-year anniversary of the day that I summited Mt. Katahdin in Maine, finishing my Appalachian Trail thru-hike. Or as my friend chasingtrailsart described it, “the last day of the best days of our lives.” So I celebrated it the only way that I possibly could - by backpacking out in the wilderness with my Colorado buds. I wouldn’t know either of these people - thathikergirl or fleabag2010 - if I’d never hiked the AT. That adventure might be long over, but it continues to impact my life in positive and profound ways every single day, still. Five years later, and I am so incredibly grateful for the experience and for the past version of me that was so terrified to go but took the leap anyway. And guess what, the net did appear. 💖💖💖 .
