One benefit of not heading home for Thanksgiving: playing outside a lot rather than dealing with holiday travel! I used to absolutely hate the drive home to NY from DC at Thanksgiving time. Actually I hated that drive always, but a normally 7-hour drive would turn into 9 or 10 hours, usually with gridlock traffic coming out of the District and snow in Central PA, and oof I sure do not miss that. On my very last drive from DC to NY, as I was about to embark on my Appalachian Trail thru-hike, I actually drove under a pedestrian bridge labeled “Appalachian Trail” and felt this immense sense of relief that I was moving forward and I was never going to have to make that atrocious drive again. 😂 Anywho, TL;DR being outside is the best and Thanksgiving travel is the worst haha.
