Francois-Paul Journe began his career as a clock restorer in France, eventually establishing his own watch manufacture in 1999. His innovative approach to watchmaking and keen sense of design propelled him to become one of the most esteemed independent watchmakers, and earning him the prestigious Aiguille d’Or award three times. One of the flagship models he introduced was the Tourbillon Souverain. This timepiece was groundbreaking as the first wristwatch to incorporate a ‘remontoir d’égalité’ mechanism, which ensured exceptional accuracy by regulating the varying force exerted by the mainspring.
