⚠️TW:Sexual assault, Queer violence ⚠️ ◽️▫️DE-STIGMATIZE space for sexually assault survivors to exist, process and heal. ▫️◽️ ♦️LGBTQ+ are sexually harassed and assaulted at higher rates than their counterparts. It’s estimated that 47% of transgender people, and 46% of bisexual women are sexually assaulted in their life compared to 11% of straight women, and 13% of lesbians. ♦️As a community LGBTQ+ people face higher rates of poverty, stigma, marginalization, which put us at greater risk of SH. Experiencing higher rates of hate motivated violence, and a society that hyper sexualized LGBTQ+ people while stigmatizing their relationships. ♦️ Among people of color, American Indian (65%), multiracial (59%), Middle Eastern (58%) and Black (53%) respondents of the 2015 U.S. Transgender Survey were most likely to have been sexually assaulted in their lifetime. ♦️As a community we must work together to heal, and address.
