i wrote this for my mom for a lot of reasons. my dad passed 9 years ago. ive written a lot of songs about it. but understandably people always ask me - “what about your mom?” i think grief is wild. i know what it’s like to grieve and have shared many songs about it. but what about the people who survive? my mom and i have been in family therapy together and i honestly recomend it for people who survive the loss of another parent. There’s always more to talk about and talk through. My mom casually asked one day “you write these songs about dad but what would you say after i’m gone?” It was an innocent question but it triggered this song.
