Damon Clark '17 is a Native American and concentrated in social studies at Harvard. Like many Native Americans in the United States, Clark straddles two worlds, that of his ancient culture and that of his country of birth. He hopes to serve as a bridge between them, meanwhile following the advice of his great-great-grandfather, Chief Manuelito.⠀

“He said to the Navajo people, ‘Go, my children, climb the ladder of education,’” said Clark. “But he also talked about remaining true to our culture and our identity. That is one of my aspirations, to bring together Western education and Navajo culture for the benefit and empowerment of my community.”⠀
