“My mom was born here. My dad was born here. My grandparents live 10 minutes away. So we’re really a Charlottesville family. Our roots are here. It’s definitely changed a lot, but places like Tonsler Park…this is home. When I was younger my team set up a tent here every Sunday and sold brownies and Gatorade to fundraise. So coming back here just brings back so many memories.
“I started playing basketball when I was three. I did the YMCA Toddler League. From there, I just fell in love with it. My parents said I just never left it alone.
“In high school, I had a huge spotlight on me. I was ranked high and had a lot of accolades. But when I got to college, it was a little quiet. It was a good thing.
