Every budget filmmaker NEEDS one of these in their filmmaking toolkit! You can find them for around $20-$30 and they’re a fast way to increase your production quality on a budget! Here are my favorite ways to use it: 1. DIFFUSION: The translucent panel is a great way to make a hard light softer. Typically, I like to use this against the sun and bring it as close as I can to my subject. However, this can also be use indoors in front of hard key lights as a soft box! 2. BOUNCE/ KEY LIGHT: If you backlight your subject, I like to use the silver and white side to bring more light back onto my subject. The white will slightly lift your shadows while the silver will act as a makeshift “key light”. 3. REMOVE LIGHT: Every 5 in 1 reflector has a black panel that can be used to increase the contrast of your scene.
