The 18 of September is like the “4th of July” for chile. It’s the biggest holiday of the year where you go to fairs called “fondas” drink mixed drinks called “terremotos” (earthquakes… yes it is very fitting haha) and people dance “cueca”. There is a lot more to it than just those traditions but unfortunately the last 3 “dieciochos” that I have been in Chile either covid or bad weather has stopped me from fully experiencing it 😂 I’ll have plenty more chances though hahah and will report back with more details 🫡 jajaja
One of the weirdest things about traveling the world and living abroad is when you are in a country during a national holiday. My life is moving as usual and everything around me is stopped to celebrate the holiday.
