As I continue to share my journey on how the #BareFeetSeries came to be, I want to go back to the idea of the 3 P’s needed to pursue a passion project. That brings us to P #2: PERSISTENCE. * Building something from scratch was exciting and daunting all at the same time. I would come up with ideas on how to find funding for the show, whom to pitch the show, how to structure the show, brainstorm ideas on who to work with - in my mind, there were endless possibilities with endless gatekeepers. But luckily, I didn’t know how the business worked and I didn’t know any better - so with that naiveté, I kept charging along, building and building and making missteps and picking myself up and figuring out what was working and was wasn’t working. * The main thing was I didn’t give up - even after I was told I would never be the host of my own show because “I didn’t look like other hosts,” I DID NOT LISTEN to them nor did I follow their terrible advice (*2 Emmy Awards later for BEST HOST).
