This is an incredible book that speaks to me specifically in terms of the trials and tribunals growing up mixed race in England I’m mixed race, London born and bred, working class, raised by grandparents aunties and uncles all first generation Caribbean. Growing up I would watch these same people, drinking Clark’s court (rum), tell hilarious tales of life back home many of which would end in someone getting licks with a belt, pot spoon or any other weapon that was close to hand 😂. I would spend entire summer holidays back in Grenada where my grandmother aka head of the house hailed from.
