I made it to the Table Rock parking lot around 530. Plenty of time to make it to the top of the comments before sunset. So I set out in beautiful blue skies and surprised by the lingering rhododendrons throughout the
@mountaintoseatrail. Once I was out of the trees and could see up the Linville Gorge I could see a thunderstorm over Grandfather mountain. Even though the weather apps all showed it continuing west in the Gorge you know the weather doesn’t care about technology so I kept an eye on it. I scrambled up to the top of the chimneys and even over to the far section to explore that area where I found some climbers 🧗🏼♀️ finishing off their climb. At that moment Thunder boomed off in the distance. I checked my lightning app and there was an awesome cluster just north. I figured with no way down without a rope or climbing shoes I should head back. By the time I got back to the last of the chimneys the clouds were darkening by the second. I knew I had two options leave now or wait ...
