I had seen a couple trees that were oddly bent, never really put much thought into them other than they were different. Until I saw a post about Native Americans would tie down trees to make them eventually grow in a peculiar shape. They used these trees as markers along trails. Sometimes to mark a boundary between two local tribes, other times to mark water sources, plants or special burial sites. I have no idea what this one is marking but with it being so close to creek with the perfect swimming hole, I’m going with that. 🤷🏼‍♂️ Either way it’s so cool to see one in person. • • • • #indiantree #nativeamerican #natureshooters #blueridgemoments #blueridgemountains #blueridgeoutdoors #mountaintoseatrail
