The Beach came out looking to get their first WCHC conference championship in team history. The game would prove to be a tough challenge for the Beach. CSUN would start the scoring with two unanswered goals in the 1st. The Beach had a number of chances but was unable to capitalize. The second proved to be more of the same the Beach had a number of chances but were unable get one passed CSUN goalie Vincent Sepe. The matadors capitalized on a fast break extending their lead to 3 at the end of 2 periods. The Beach came out looking for the comeback in the 3rd but could not get one past the CSUN goaltender. The Beach would attempt to kill off a 5 minute major but CSUN would add another goal extending the lead to 4. Despite out shooting the matadors 39 to 33 CSUN was able to fight off the Beach winning the game 4-0.
