2023 Goal: Improve My Aerobic Fitness
Why would me, a baseball player, care about improving my aerobic fitness? I’m glad you asked!
Baseball is an anaerobic dominate sport where short, quick bursts of all out effort are required. Swings, baserunning, pitching, fielding plays all fall into those all out, short duration anaerobic efforts. In between all of these anaerobic outputs is when my aerobic system kicks on. If I have a strong, well conditioned aerobic system then I will recover quicker between each pitch, each inning and each game staying fresher and stronger over the course of each game and a long 162 game season.
To improve my aerobic fitness this year, I will be implementing 3 30 minute aerobic cardio sessions per week where I try to keep my heartbeat around 130-135 beats per minute.
