This gives it some unique advantages: Safety - The LFR has "walk-away" safety capabilities, meaning it can safely shut itself down and cool down on its own in an emergency situation without operator intervention. Versatility - In addition to generating electricity, the LFR can also be used for producing hydrogen, desalinating water, and providing heat for industrial processes. Small Size - The LFR has a compact design that does not require being located near a large water source like a lake or river. It can be air-cooled instead. Fuel Flexibility - The LFR can use a variety of nuclear fuel types, including reprocessed used fuel, which reduces nuclear waste.
