It had been over a year since I had been on that famous misshapen sand dune. Over 365 days since I had trudged up the worn path in the sand to the view of the Pacific, with calm waves below. There’s no photo that can capture this place, nothing can translate its power. It simply was a few days of the most peace I’ve felt, in the year that I had been away from it. A reminder of why I left the idea of a “home” behind and valued people over place.
