I drove the big rig up through the Oregon pines, across the desert and landed at a winding road. Up & up it led, to the mouth of a volcano-turned-basin. Reaching the edge, I parked and started the quick trek to the ridge; a first full view of Crater Lake. Seconds later a dust devil spouted from the cliff and soon I was in the eye of a small tornado. The wind and sand was punishing but I could only laugh.
