VAIN. An ongoing photo series I’m pursuing, to highlight our species tendency to be self-absorbed while disregarding the power of our surroundings. We’ve forgotten that nature always has and always will be in control, and to use it as a backdrop is the downfall of that understanding. I have been guilty of engaging in this throughout my time as a photographer, but have come to realize that nature is being treated as a prop; with only the intent to strike envy or longing in others. “I was here” or “I saw that” are catchphrases used at the expense of these wondrous places, and the earth deserves so much more credit than we give it. So that’s what this series will aim to do- remind us of our place in this world, spark a conversation of humility and hopefully encourage anyone who sees it to remember that we should focus more on caring for our environment than question how we look in the foreground. *Quick disclaimer* all the models featured in this ongoing series are friends gracious enough...
