It’s sad to say, but the visible patriarchy and fragile male egotism that occured yesterday was not much of a surprise. It was the exclamation point on a story that has been written over and over for decades. I can’t speak for women, but I can stand with them, listen to them and do whatever else possible to fix the ongoing inequality they face. It’s not my or any other man’s place to offer advice, criticism or even approval in some cases, but we can offer our support and voices where it’s needed, when it’s needed. Not just on social media or in any echo-chamber, but in real-world examples and in day-to-day scenarios. This goes for men everywhere; lower your ego to empathize with others, be slow to speak and quick to listen, believe survivors and victims and show support in every case no matter their relation to you.
