We’re deeply saddened to hear the news of the passing of a true legend of Australian football, Steve ‘Maxi’ Maxwell, Socceroo Cap #339. 🕊️ A prolific forward and a revered figure in the football community, Maxwell first represented Australia at the age of 21, making his debut against Czechoslovakia on 6 August 1986 for the senior men’s national team and would go on to make a total of four senior international appearances over a six-year span. Maxwell represented Adelaide City FC (1983-1986 and 1988-1994) and Marconi Stallions FC (1987), accumulating 321 National Soccer League (NSL) and Cup games including 82 goals. During his time with Adelaide City, Maxwell lifted the NSL trophy three times and the NSL Cup twice with the Black and Whites.
