Fauci has announced to step down from the Director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), Chief of the NIAID Laboratory of Immunoregulation, and Chief Medical Advisor to President Joe Biden. Over the past 38 years as NIAID Director, Fauci has served under and advised seven U.S. Presidents during outbreaks of infectious diseases, from HIV to Ebola to COVID-19.
