New York continues making progress in cannabis legalization. By green-lighting emergency lab testing regulations and opening the application process for testing facilities, the New York State Cannabis Control Board (CCB) recently moved closer to launching recreational sales and opening adult-use stores in the state. The CCB announced that it will not accept public comments on the rules. However, it will consider comments submitted on the proposed rules in June and make changes accordingly. In addition, the CCB approved as its Director of Policy John Kagia, a leading voice in cannabis, who is known for creating innovative opportunities, and mitigating risks for consumers. “We are thrilled to work alongside him as we build a model cannabis market in New York,” the CCB tweeted.
