In partnership with @gettyimages, we honor the rebuilding of the vibrant Greenwood community, following the Tulsa Race Massacre in 1921. By the 1940s, the rebuilding of Greenwood had begun and resident and businessman, Rev. Harold M. Anderson, dedicated himself to not only documenting Black life in his thriving community, but also laying down the foundation to help bring a movie theatre, skating rink, and the first bowling alley to North Tulsa. Nearly destroyed and later rediscovered after a fire at the Anderson home, this incredible glimpse of Black life extends through parades to dances, from businesses to church events, in addition to the testament of Rev. Anderson’s dedication to his community. For more on the Harold M. Anderson collection, visit the @gettyimages website.
