Since 2019, the PHF and PWHPA have both been at odds with each other, especially having to do with the salaries of the players. The PWHPA is in favor of creating a league that supports the players more. An NBC Sports article on the rift states “Despite the NHL pushing for negotiations between the two sides, it has become clear over the past three years that the PWHPA and PHF, previously known as the National Women’s Hockey League, are not in sync in their objectives.” The two organizations have stopped talks for now. In order to grow Women's Hockey and support women and girls in the sport it is important that the PWHPA and PHF continue to work together to rebuild their bond for the future of Women's Hockey everywhere.
