Maintaining spine angle helps you consistently make center-face contact, but this can be a difficult position to work on. Understanding the connection between posture and where the club ultimately needs to return to, the golf ball, shows us that the trail arm plays a pivotal role in achieving the proper spine tilt. Keeping the trail arm bent through impact forces your upper body to move down into the shot, instead of standing up tall and backing out. Try this half swing drill by making a mini backswing focusing on keeping your trail arm bent. Turn your body toward the target maintaining that flexion through impact, then straighten that arm and extend into your follow-through. This will force you to feel the proper spine angle necessary to get down to the ball. Give it a try!
