TxDOT and City of El Paso turned I-10 aesthetic lights orange to celebrate the 50th anniversary of UTEP - The University of Texas at El Paso's (then known as Texas Western College) historic 1966 NCAA Championship basketball team. The victory over Kentucky marked the first time an all-black squad started an NCAA championship game, in a time when the civil rights movement was still struggling to take hold.
