Following protests since the start of July, residents have continued to refuse to pay for the parking fees in addition to any parking citations they have received. As part of the protests, the United Auto Workers, 4811 representatives and residents had previously demanded that the parking permit fee and following parking citations be dropped completely. Additionally, according to the proposal — contained in a letter to Associate Vice Chancellor of Residential and Student Service Programs Jo Mackness — parking citations over the last 12 months will be waived. This was delivered alongside a petition from University Village Albany residents with more than 300 signatures.
