Italian boxer Angela Carini has apologized to her Olympic opponent Imane Khelif following the controversy surrounding their fight. After Carini pulled out of the Paris Games mid-fight, Khelif, who was representing Algeria, became the subject of widespread transvestigation, though the spokesperson for the International Olympic Committee has confirmed she was assigned female at birth and WAS eligible to compete. Carini said in part, 'I was angry, because my games had already gone up in smoke.
