As a photographer, these moments are never easy. On top of having to see people you care for being devastated by something so sudden, you gotta make the judgement call on pressing the button or not. It is quite an intrusive process, but the real question then becomes "does this serve the story?" I guess we all have our own version of what happened that day, but the story I want to tell is one of compassion. It is teammates being there for each other. Coaches leading with empathy and love even during the hard times. Individual athletes coming together on the ice, wanting to win for one another; remembering to put the team first. In my version of the story, what makes a team is not the wins or losses, but the people in it.
