How about that!
On Aug. 2, 1971, Apollo 15 commander David Scott dropped a geological hammer and a feather simultaneously on the surface of the Moon as a test of Galileo’s law of motion. Both objects landed on the lunar surface at the same time.
This color reproduction was taken from a transmission made by the color television camera mounted on the Lunar Roving Vehicle.
The Apollo 15 astronauts conducted this demonstration toward the end of the third and final moonwalk of the mission. The Apollo 15 Lunar Module was called “Falcon.”
