When Great Britain rower Lola Anderson was 14, she wrote her goal of winning Olympic gold in her diary. According to the BBC, Lola became immediately embarrassed and threw the note away. Her father, Don Anderson, who was also a rower, found the note and kept it.
Seven years later, the BBC says Don gave the note back to Lola after being diagnosed with terminal cancer. He wanted her to have it and remember her dream. He passed away two months later.
On Wednesday, she achieved that dream.
