One. The Philadelphia Union have only lost one game this season. It’s only right they sit at the top of the Eastern Conference. Nearly thirty points in sixteen matches played, and Jim Curtin’s winning machine continues to break hearts in a way only the City of Brotherly Love can. Gave NYCFC a glimmer of hope letting in the 89th minute, only to win it all in the 96th. Philadelphia Union 2-1 NYCFC. Brenden Aaronson, The Sons of Ben, and Paul ‘The Physio’ Rushing, by now you’ve heard the story. Every single person in attendance at Subaru Park on Sunday played a part in what can only be described as Shakespearean, a game with a final ten minutes of soccer that only this rivalry could produce. Philadelphia Union vs NYCFC is quickly becoming one of the most entertaining matchups in Major League Soccer, and it’s difficult to imagine what the next installment might have in store for us. For now, though, the smoke has cleared, and the Union remain on top.
