When I began elementary school, I had mild hearing levels and bilateral hearing aids. Each fall or bump brought new challenges as my hearing levels declined. By 5th grade, I was identified with bilateral profound hearing levels and had power hearing aids.
Parents, if you're walking this path with your child, know that you're not alone. My story shows that early setbacks don't define future success. Despite predictions of limited academic achievement, I defied expectations.
Your child's potential is boundless. Embrace each step of this journey – the struggles and the triumphs. With your love and support, they can achieve amazing things. The most important thing is to make sure they have access to language. From there they can build and create.
