“Following your passion” is such misguided advice, unless it’s something you’re REALLY good at. Growing up, I was really good at writing in class, got good scores on the English section of the SATs, and have always been able to communicate extremely well with written English. So, I turned this into a copywriting career where I write cold emails, tweets, blogs and newsletters for a living. Am I passionate about writing? Not really. It doesn’t move the needle for me, and I don’t wake up and say “can’t wait to write today!” But I am passionate about the lifestyle I’ve created around my business, and I’m passionate about being able to help my clients and people who follow me on Twitter.
