Friday is International Day of the World's Indigenous Peoples.
There are more than 476 million indigenous people living in 90 countries, speaking the majority of the world's 7,000 languages.
Their survival is crucial to the protection of our planet and preservation of cultural and linguistic diversity.
“Today and every day, the world must stand behind the rights of Indigenous Peoples to chart their own futures,” said
#UnitedNations Secretary-General antonioguterres.
“Together, let us safeguard their rights to live in peace and dignity.”
