The Devils opened up 2023 by earning a point against the hottest team in the NHL. However, some of the issues that have continued to plague them were highlighted in today’s contest. Bad giveaways and defensive mistakes continued to be an issue, leading to multiple of Carolina’s goals. Additionally, they took way too many ‘dumb’ penalties – also a common theme lately. The difference today was that they were able to consistently finish their chances more, which allowed them to steal a point that they maybe did not deserve. However, that’s how the NHL season goes. There were plenty of nights where the #NJDevils deserved a point but did not get one, so it all (hopefully) evens out. They’ll look to bounce back in Detroit on Wednesday night. 😈
