Their responses regarding bout corruption raised concerns, leading to their removal from the referees and judges pool at the AIBA World Championships in Serbia. Despite their removal in 2021, Emil Gurbanaliyev from Azerbaijan and Sergei Krutasov from Russia were selected as technical officials by the 2024 Paris Boxing Unit. The IOC stated it was unaware of McLaren’s findings since they were not public, and both judges had passed background checks and vetting processes.
