Although the Summer Olympics have wrapped up, did you know that St. Mark’s has its very own Olympian? Truxton Hare, a Class of 1897 graduate, participated in the 1900 Summer Olympics in Paris, snagging a Silver Medal in the Hammer Throw. Not stopping there, he also competed in the 1904 Summer Olympics in St. Louis, clinching a Bronze Medal in the all-rounder category. Talk about a sports all-star! From sprinting to shot put, this Truxton did it all. And guess where his epic journey started? Right at St. Mark’s, where he started in baseball, football, and track.
