Lee Farms welcomed hundreds of people Saturday to celebrate one of mid-August’s most recognizable blooms with the Lee Farms Sunflower Festival, an annual event at the 155-year-old property located about a half hour south of Portland in Tualatin.
Across the farm’s 100-plus acres, people of all ages picked U-cut sunflowers, listened to live music, petted farm animals and wandered through the festival’s sunflower maze.
Elsewhere on the farm, Teagan Lee Milera, part of the sixth generation of family members at Lee Farm and one of the event’s main organizers, was working with her siblings to keep the event running smoothly.
Milera said the family started organizing the festival in 2019 as a way to add another seasonal event to the farm’s already packed calendar, which includes a Fall Festival in September and October, holiday tree sales in the winter and berry picking in the early summer.
