While not officially an attraction, the Starway escalator, which connects the Upper Lot (“Entertainment Center”) to the Lower Lot (“Studio Center”), offers incredible views of the Universal backlot. Originally opened in 1991 as part of a major park expansion, it was once the departure point for the Studio Tour tram, prior to the addition of the Jurassic Park River Adventure ride in 1996. In 2017, a new escalator was added to increase capacity in response to the opening of the Wizarding World of Harry Potter and likely in anticipation of the Super Nintendo World debut in 2022, which would draw more visitors to the Lower Lot.
