i can't help but chuckle when i remember the sheer joy we had when someone mentioned that they were hungry for a snack and wolfgang looked up to find a towering apple tree with gorgeous fruit dangling above like a treat from Jesus himself. we apologized (in multiple languages) to the farmer whose apples we were stealing, offering to pray for him on our pilgrimage to santiago. we tried to see who could grab the highest apple (it was tie between jeremy and wolfgang, i was just trying not to trip again). i can still hear the crisp sound of my bite into the apple and the yelp of terror when someone found a worm. "just eat around it!" someone yelled.
