Still on #womenshistorymonth Charity Opara is a Nigerian 400m athlete with a fantastic Personal Best of 49.29s which is the second fastest by a Nigerian and 22nd on the World All time list in the women's 400m . . She represented Nigeria at the 1989 African Championships in Lagos winning a Gold in the 4x400m. Charity won double bronze at the 1990 Commonwealth Games in the 400m and relay. That same year she won a 400m Silver at the World Junior Championship in Bulgaria. . . At the All African Games in 1991, she finished 2nd in the 400m behind teammate, Fatima Yusuf, in fact, it was a clean sweep by Team Nigeria as Airat Bakare finished 3rd. . . She laid off for a while and came back in 1996 to win a Silver medal at the Summer Olympics alongside Bisi Afolabi, Fatima Yusuf and Falilat Ogunkoya in the women's 4x400m final. . .
