Protective Services Officer (PSO) Archie Gulmen says it’s never too late to pursue your goals. After 24 years away from studying, he dove into the Victoria Police Academy as a PSO – he’s never looked back.
If his commitment to the safety of his community wasn’t enough, it turns out that Archie is serving in more ways than one. Part-time, Archie is a cook in the Army Reserve who has provided humanitarian aid in efforts like Bushfire Assist 2020. Full-time, he’s at Flemington Police Station, patrolling Flemington Train Station and keeping the public safe.
Since moving to Australia, Archie has given back to the country and community that has embraced him, but why both? “Both the military and the police share core values such as integrity, professionalism, dedication, and a commitment to serving and protecting others.”
